You are clueless
Maybe I should put this story on my website, since I have to rewrite it so often.

Palm originally wrote software for the Newton. I have a copy of Grafitti from 1994! Yes, that "great" handwriting software has been largely unchanged since then!

The Newton was the first handheld in the market and suffered because of high power consumption (battery eater). No low power chips existed in those days, but BECAUSE of the Newton, ARM built a low-power chip called StrongARM. It made it into the last of the Newtons. After a few buyouts, it is now called Xscale - and powers just about every handheld!

The Newton handwriting recognition was (and STILL is) second to none. It worked VERY well thank you (better than anything around today) - and that was in 1997.

When Steve Jobs came back to Apple, he created a Newton company and spun-off the Newton. He then had his $150 settlement with M$ (remember, so he could get Office and IE upgrades for the Mac). He then spun back the spin off (HOW can you DO that?), and locked Newton in an air-tight chamber - never to be seen again. Companies have inquired about purchasing the software - buy Jobs won't sell. He made a deal with the devil (Billy) to NOT compete with M$ Pocket PC - and that's why Billy has the market today. Simple huh? Please don't forget the lesson here - M$ can stifle competition for cash - duh-uh!
