Now it really does not matter does it?
Or haven't you figured that out yet? You take the basic consumer out there and change the way his old TiVo works when he ain't lookin, he will complain for about 5 minutes and move on.

Take a look at TiVo; they wants to tap the web. You think that forced "upgrades" won't be piped in via the web? They will be. That's capitalism my SPF.

How do they get away with this? Ain't you noticed that now when you purchase just about any electronic gadget out there, there is an acceptable use policy attached. Read it and weep. That's captitalism. When you think about it all we are really doing as consumers is renting this stuff anyway. Read a TOS on software lately? I just received notification that support for some "my" current versions of software will no longer supported. I rented that softwrae for 4 years and now I have to upgrade. Rental ware has lead to rental ware in hardware. That's captitalism.

When new formats are developed and introduced to the consumer the old goes away. Had any problems finding your favorite new movie on VHS lately? Planned obsolescence is a great business model if it can be achieved. That is Capitalism.

Don't like it? Move to Cuba. Uncle Fidel will take care of you. There are no evil corporations there.
