What would be effective?
"The fact of the matter is the existing laws are NOT effective in stopping infringement."

With only 7% of the world's population in the US, it boggles my mind that any company would think they can control international internet piracy, even if it is everything they claim it to be, by passing US law. The BSA would have to believe that a substantial percentage of the MS Office infringement, as one example, is done by the reletively small population segment in the US. If this is true, then they may want to look at this as a free market problem and discover what could be done to entice customres to be legal. If it is not true, then they have even bigger issues, as many of htese countries have lower cost distributions available. That would mean that the populace does not consider their product to be worth even the discounted price.

As for the customary No_Ax moral high ground, give me some more, my garden need fertilization. Your arguments are based on an inherant belief system that assumes that IP owners are always innocent victims. The fact is that they are in colussion concerning pricing, which is exhorbatant when compared to production costs, and they treat both their artists and customers as slaves under revolt. There is little surprise that they reap the whirlwind when their attitude is like this.
