big business versus small people
I don't pirate software or music. I don't approve of piracy.
BUT, the premise of American jurisprudence has always been you are innocent until proven guilty.
Music, Movies/TV, and now Software as 'BIG' business wants the presumption to be 'guilty'. I run a small network. I have a server dedicated to installs/support. I keep install source folders on that secure server. If allowed to 'hack' for evidence the BSA would take me to court to prove my innocence. BSA with its reputation of intimidation make a good fit with the record labels. Why is it every change in 'Copyright' for the last twenty years has been about protecting huge corporations at the expense of individuals and 'fair use'. (yes that was a rhetorical question.)
