Actually if someone was dumb enough to try and "sue BitTorrent" instead of suing site operators, the fact that it requires central indexing would be used to support it's case.

It was purposely written to be centralized, because centralized indexing it the most efficient way of doing things. If someone is stupid enough to run a BitTorrent site that allows copyrighted material, then they should expect a lawsuit.

As for this 'new' bittorrent, it will suffer from the same efficiency problems that all decentralized p2p systems do, and as with all other decentralized systems, induviduals will be the target of the lawsuits.

"Fake files on Kazaa are a nuisance, but are managable. Working to create a confidence measure along the lines of eBay ratings, would make this new technology "better" than the greedy, corporate KaZaa with their malware "ante". This new tech looks like a winner - in spite the wah wahs of Cohen."


This "new technology" is nothing but a rip off of the Ed2k (see: Edonkey/Emule) system. Every deature described has already been implimented in the Ed2k system.. Nothing new is happening here.

Bram Cohen's quote sums it up quite nicely...
