Harder to stop
The structure of P2P just won't be a good match for IP stuff. You CANNOT stop pirates by altering your tactics - they will adapt. You stop pirates by taking away their strengths. People hate spending so much money for songs and movies, so they just pirate them. Lowering the price would help, but combine that with CONVIENANCE! Yes, people spend more for convienance. Convienance is not having to comb through 300Gb drives to "see what movies you have". Convienance is not having to shuffle HUGE libraries of CDs and DVDs. Convienance is one-stop-shopping, as well as low monthly payments.

How to get there from here? Wait a year, and certainly after two for the new paradym; WiMAX is comming. When everyone is fully connected wirelessly via WiMAX, then streaming audio/video is possible. Create the MPAA movie web site, and for a low monthly fee, you can have any movie in the library (we make it EASY to search for JUST the right movie!) streamed to your WiMAX device.

Win, win, win for MPAA, RIAA, WiMAX providers, and customers.

LONG list of losers: Telephone companies, Video rental companies and equipment makers, ISPs, Cell phone companies, etc. Lots more . . .

The WiMAX steamroller is comming
