There will always be hope
No matter what they do it goes back to a very very simple rule, that noone seems to be able to wrap their little minds around. Where there is demand, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SUPPLY. The government has been wasting our money on this for decades with the "drug war". They are only making it more profitable. Be clear though, this analogy in no way compares file sharing to illegal activity as it still has not been found to be anything more than infringment. The RIAA has chosen to ignore another simple truism. "If it is a war they want, it is a war they will get!" And they are getting it and losing. More software will always pop up. If you download something and use it all the time, you should buy it, but you shouldn't have fear of being locked up or sued into bankruptcy for listening to a song...my god is this america? I just don't know anymore....
