Report: Big boost for blogs in 2004

Friends Online/In Real Life - Who Cares No_Ax?: What if you're disabled and home-bound and cannot get out and meet real people? Are you saying that they have no right to friends online? What about the stay at home mom with three kids? Does she not have a right to have friends even if they are online?

You come in here and post what you think is an insightful post, when in reality it just turns out to be total garbage because you don't think before you say what you're going to say.

I teach online for about 50 students per term, and the online community is a godsend for people who otherwise could not get out and socialize. Are you saying those who have social interaction problems and can communicate effectively to others in an online environment should be shut away and not allowed to make friends that way?

I have tons of online friends, and I'd say the percentage of online to real friends I have is about 50/50, many of them are people I was friends with in real life that moved away and now I maintain my friendship with them from far away. My best friend was in Iraq for a year and I was able to communicate with him several times a week online, which saved me the stress of having to worry about his well-being.
