..I would NEVER use such a service no matter who offers it...

The services offered so far do increase the worry factor.

..A database not only containing credit card numbers, but also a trove of information regarding identity and linked accounts, would produce a nightmare if compromised....

Notice that Passport hasn't been replaced and now eBay will hold that very sensitive information, duplicated at Amazon, etc.
They are all vunerable and all it takes is to find the weakest one.
The whole issue of privacy and security needs to be addressed.
This is definitely a problem looking for a solution.
Liberty-Passport anyone?
