Yes, and the applications are driving it into the ground.
The Internet was born out of technology for technology. It has since been contorted by big business until it is no longer the Internet. Not as designed anyway. And it was designed to be autonomous and unable to be brought down. From numerous small managable networks interconnected by many, many routes to a few huge networks connected by even fewer routes. Money, money, money, money, and the "applications" for its generation. The one thing the Internet creators failed to see as a destructor. Nobody's perfect.
