Man, great artical. Google is an exciting company.
But, I agree their greatest problems will be respecting the data and privacy, and "doing no evil". Well, they will never fail as miserably as Microsoft in the "do no evil" catgegory.

One area I wish they would pursue is a Google branded Firefox browser. They could dumup millions of dollars and lots of tallent into Mozilla and help break the Microsoft monopoly which rests on three pilars: Win32, Office, and IE. If they could help to weaken the IE pilar, that could be the key.

Another thing I think would be good is a Google branded distribution based on Debian. Again, they could pump tallent and money into the Debian distribution and help everybody. This would also help them continue their "cool" factor. Heck, look what a guy in South Africa did with Ubuntu! I have been using that for a month or two on my laptop just for fun.
