Emulating ActiveX
Not a good idea. ActiveX was originally intended for true client server architectures, then extended for N-Tier, then extended for the internet.

The whole problem with ActiveX is that it was NOT DESIGNED FOR THE 'NET.

It was, however, specifically designed to allow browsers and client applications to access informaiton on servers located WITHIN a corporate network. THIS IS WHERE IT EXCELLS.

If FF tries to emultate ActiveX they will be making a HUGE mistake. FF should continue to work within STANDARDS and make an attempt to have the W3C come up with NEW STANDARDS that will provide secure functionality similar to the ActiveX exstensions used in WEB applications.
