It is OK to ask people to change their sites, but . .
It would probably be more fruitful to make Firefox work well with bad sites coded for IE. You might pop a warning and tell people that this is a non-standard site, then display it in "IE mode". Of course let people mark sites as "IE mode" sites. Well, I don't think it would be a good idea to emulate ActiveX.
