So you are worried about spyware.
Spyware is the least of our problems when it comes to data mining and privacy. I hate spyware also. My biggest compalint is that it can get installed without my permission and slows down my machine. After that it is more of a nuisance once one realizes what is collected by corporations without even touching your computer. The governement is not big brother as much as corporate America is.

Wanna know what I can do with **YOUR** public records........
http://www.epic.org/privacy/publicrecords/

"Public records may contain all the information necessary to perpetrate identity fraud."

I can tell you that in the state of Texas alone the word "may" can easily be replaced with "does".

Wanna see what a dataming comapny looks like and how they use your public records "against" you.
http://www.choicepoint.com/

"ChoicePoint is a leading provider of identification and credential verification services to business, government and individual customers. By transforming data into Actionable Intelligence?, ChoicePoint helps customers reduce risk and better manage business relationships."

Public Records Group

"Through unique filtering and delivery capabilities, ChoicePoint Public Records Group provides access to billions of public records. Our revolutionary technology ? unprecedented in the information industry ? makes us the preferred provider for government agencies and Fortune 1000 companies.

Whether the answer lies in public records or ChoicePoint's privately maintained databases, the ChoicePoint Public Records Group has the technology, tools and services to deliver it quickly, cost-effectively and most importantly, the way you want it."

Just wondering here what would happen if mistakes are made? Companies like ChoicePoint and ComScore sell public records information to government law enforcement agencies.

Wanna get rid of spam and junk mail make characters like this company,
http://list.infousa.com,
culpable for mistakes and removing your name off an unwanted list. BTW check what they offer. I paid to see what they "had" on me. I did not like it and am in a fight to get some of the bogus info purged and hopefully my name and information removed completely.

Let's go a little further, checked your credit score lately? Have you ever insured that the information that is on your credit report correct?

Anyway folks I am not a conspiracey theorist nor do I run around with my hair on fire worried about tracking cookies and some spyware that wants to funnel adds to me. The abuse and potential for abuse has existed long before anyone thought about tracking software. Information is the coin of the realm and the wanton use is just going to get worse. There is a prevailing thought that you and I are gaurenteed privacy but anonymity and that scares the hell out of me.
