Current pricing through GoDaddy is not bad
at the present time. A small fee such as the discussed in the article is not out of line IF the monies go directly to benefit the Internet. Lining the pockects of the registrars and ICANN is quite another issue. I feel like the fee will probably be used to further the commercial endeavores of those who receive the additional monies. This is the direction the Internet is headed. It appears that companies involved in the Internet have one goal. To make more money regardless of whether the Internet users benefit or not. And with "carte blanche" in regards to the new fees to be collected, I doubt much will go towards improving the Internet. Most will probably end up lining the pockets of the stockholders and/or principals of the companies. And the Internet gets shafted again.
