Don?t Search, Improve Query-formulation, Find and Fetch
The focus on Search, that too on Desktop, is surprising. The need for improvement of ?Query-formulation, Finding and Fetching? is far more acute than for ?Search? anywhere. In fact, query-formulation of ?Search for Files and Folders? is relatively better since it uses document attributes for search instead of just the terms that occur in the document (as in Internet Search).

?High Precision and Maximum Recall? can be achieved by improving the ?Query-formulation? through ?Seeking and using the descriptors of what is sought?. Most information seekers will only be too glad to give such descriptors than to have the search engine rushing in to search with scanty description of what is sought. Much worse is to be inundated with pages of hits and having to search manually.

The results of fetch will improve further if the selected sources are indexed and tagged through a combination of (one-time) human and automated means.

More details on request.
