So what's your take on this?
You, the upholder of software patents. Here's what you said when MS had a victory in this some time back:

I wonder which way you would be swinging if MS were suing the little guy. I think you would be saying what you said in this post.

Personally, I think Eolas' patent claim is poop because they didn't invent the hooks in web browsers that are used for these plug-ins -- Eolas claims to have 'invented' the process that takes advantage of these hooks. In other words, they have patented the main use for what these hooks were intended to be used for -- to make the web browsers extensible. Also, in this case, your quote So your saying that if I develop something over the course of several years, lots of money and man power invested, and release it does not apply here. All of the work in this area is being done in the applications that use these hooks, not in the 'process' of using the hook. The 'process' here is an IP connection.

While we are at it, can you name a patented software product (or process) that was really patented after development over the course of several years, lots of money and man power invested. Anything old enough to qualify here is more than likely obsolete now.
