Severity of mis-use
---In fact we can easily prove that guns have a very low usage (compared to the number of guns out there) for crimes.
But can we say the same of a P2P?---

Here you're arguing quantity, but I'd make the counterargument one of quality. How severe are the crimes accomplished abusing either product? One results in loss of life, injury, loss of physical posessions. The other results only in loss of theoretical profits, and so far has been shown to have no negative financial impact on those wronged (and perhaps even the opposite, a positive benefit to the copyright holders in increased sales).

I'd argue that gun manufacturers should be under the microscope a lot more than p2p manufacturers, if you want legislation that improves the quality of life for the majority of citizens.

But it still comes down to the base question--If one makes a product that can be abused, is one responsible for the abuse? Do you have to change every single product that has the potential for abuse? Why pick and choose particular products and let others get off scott free? If a decision like this is made, won't any nutjob be able to use it as a legal precedent to either ban everyday products or cost their manufacturers millions of dollars?
