It's more of a legal disclaimer situation
Think of it as putting a warning label on a product--use it wrong and bad things will happen.

I agree with you that it's not going to be very effective, but the question is, how far does a company have to go to prevent abuse of their product?

Guns kill lots of people every year. Do gun manufacturers have to change their products to prevent them from shooting anything other than targets and animals? CD burners can be used for illegally bootlegging music cds. Do we now have to massively alter their design to shut down the criminals? Telephones can be used for fraud....

Where do you draw the line? Where does personal responsibility of the individual breaking the law come into the equation?
