With Leadership Like This, Microsoft Has Nothing To Fear
This is a great example of the open source community's stooge like ability when it comes to managing the business of technology. If this had been Microsoft, the ad would have been run, the marketing department would be following up with news releases and TV. spots and you'd have pop-ups on most of the popular websites. In short, knowledgeable people with talent and experience would have made a plan and provided the leadership required to execute it. Open source has NONE of that. By it's very nature, the open source community is the chaotic conglomerate of "they". Who's coordinating the print advertising this week? "They" are. Who's spearheading the patch release schedule? "They're" one that. Who?s working on the plan to overthrow Microsoft as the dominate force in business and personal computing. "They" are. As a Microsoft loyalist, I have to chuckle every time I read about another Linux push towards legitimizing itself as an entity Corporate America should take seriously. It usually ends up the same way every time. Complete self destruction. Linux is a great idea, but so are free healthcare for everyone, zero emissions cars, and a terrorist free world. It's the leadership required to deal with the complications that arise in implementing these great ideas that makes all the difference in the world.
