Simple but incredible

Over the years I've know and worked with IBM zealots (admittedly long ago), Novell zealots and any number of others. One trait they shared in common was that their particular brand of religion was the best answer to virtually any question. But the one thing they shared was glowing enthusiasm.

The Microsoft religion brings a whole new dimension, that of Jihad. Not only is Microsoft, like Allah, all powerful and all virtuous, but he is also a vengeful God. Any project or experiment that would involves migration to, or consideration of, any other solution is met with fear and loathing. We see examples on this very board of the resident MS zealots actually rooting for failure on the part of the companies or government bodies working to improve their information systems. Software projects fail more than 50% of the time, and these guys actually root for more of the same?

Yes, MS zealotry brings a mean-spirited attitude that its predecessors lacked. Let us hope that the well-deserved passage of this breed marks the end of this trait as well.
