Doctors could conclude everyone is sick.
No argument that you're seeing massively infected pc's. Someone would have to be heedless of spyware for a long time to produce what you see. And, of course, there are people that heedless.

Luckily, most people begin to want to take control of their pc's when they see how much of a mess has been created. Not too much work, but running AdAware (the simplest interface; glad it's also a good program) can happen.

And then they begin to refuse programs permission to install.

I overheard a brief conversation today between users in which one was complaining about a spyware intrusion. The other wondered vaguely whether a different browser would matter. The first said, "I don't want a new browser; I want to get the crap off this one."
If I weren't eavesdropping (accidentally) I would have applauded.

Users can learn. If you watch closely you will see proof.

I have, on the other hand, been observing open source software supporters for some time. I still have hope they can learn something new. But, like athletic supporters, they seem to stick to their team.
