Did surprise me that after showing all the garbage available at that web site on a "drive-by" basis, the author included a live link to the site. I expect that's a challenge to non-believers.

Point taken about the incomplete clean-up.
Though I wonder how much of the spyware was authorized and how much could have gotten past even SP 2's generic blocking. Let that pass.

But what is the site testing?
Assume that most if not all of those scanners could identify and remove any of the adware on the list. In that case, the test is checking the completeness of the data base of spyware and adware, as well as the details of each listing that allow complete removal.

Because these scanner programs update continuously, spyware missed at one scan could be caught the next.

Still, this is a reminder of how difficult the problem is. And even if everyone switched form IE there would be little if any improvement because so many of these programs obtain the user's authorization. Any browser, any operating system used at home would allow for installation of applications the user chooses to install.

The social engineers are far ahead of the software engineers on this one.
