There was an amusing chapter...
...about a year ago involving Google vs. MSN search. I think the story broke on Slashdot, then was all over the place. If you searched using the simple term "Linux" on MSN, it returned some embarassingly low number (417 sticks in my mind). Google at the time returned results numbering in the low millions, as I recall. This wasn't just an Urban Legend sort of thing...I tried the MSN search myself immediately upon first reading the story and got the same tiny number that the author got. Within a few days of the article breaking and Microsoft's being the butt of numerous jokes and expressions of indignation, the number of hits for "Linux" suddenly blossomed. Almost overnight. Amazing.
