Open the lines
If the companies have not been keeping up with technology, then they need to catch up. The Internet has been free to use and should remain free to use.
I know that sometime in the future, someone is going to push to regulate it, but we already have bloggers that are surfing the net and others that are monitoring the net for other reasons. If something happens that is against a policy you agreed to then you are kicked off. Use this mentality for regulation.

Leave the Internet to the people; god knows all the other things that were once free are now costing us.
