live365.com broadcasts with MP3 format ...
meaning their streams can be enjoyed easily on any OS. I listen to their streams on Linux. They have really great variety and really great sound. And they have all the MP3s in their library so that if someone really likes a particular peice, they can purchase it and download it on the spot. This is a really great solution since it is clearly spelled out already in copyright law and it meets the needs of music lovers. Can it be abused? Of course, but one can also use other methods to illegally record music. You could do it with a simple FM radio card. But this service makes it easy to stay within the law and serves to facilitate fair use rights. I think its a great solution.
