Yes, it is stupid
My point was that this exact same thing in the Microsoft world drew large condemnation from ABMers saying that this activity was immoral and evil and against all their beliefs, you know, the standard zealot stuff. In fact, in the MS world, the only thing that happens is you lose support, you can continue to use the product as long as you want. With iTunes, the older versions actually STOP WORKING! However, since it isn't the "evil empire" (as defined by ABMers), everything is okay!
