Drudge is not a blog: Drudge is NOT a blog ? never has been. For the most part all
Drudge does is link to stories from large media outlets on the
web. The beauty of it is that you might come across an
interesting story in Salt Lake City, or Minneapolis, or a foreign
country ? stuff you might not find otherwise. This week,
Drudge was the first US outlet to carry the story of the new
discovery of an ancient civilization of humans on a remote
Indonesian island ? by linking to an Australian paper article
about the Australian researchers who found the remains.

Occasionally, Drudge does ?reporting?. This is usually based on
leaks fed to him. That?s how he broke the story about 60
Minutes planning to run the Al QaQaa hit piece on Sunday night
(someone inside CBS fed him that). Both Time and Newsweek
feed Drudge ?leeks? about upcoming big stories.

Drudge never writes opinion/commentary pieces ? what blogs
are.

Who reads stuff like this? Well, Drudge has more hits in one day
than the combined weekly circulation of the NY Times. The
Daily KOS (liberal blogs) gets about 500,000 hits per day (due to
the election).
