Do you really have that many?
If you're getting your updates from https://update.mozilla.org/extensions/ you might want to click the developer's page links to see if they've updated their extensions themselves. That site is kind of slow when it comes to posting the updates. That cut the number I had to hack from about eight to exactly one. And that was a week after RC1 came out, and even now that one I changed has since been updated on the developer's site (but not on update.mozilla.org). And when you know what you're doing, it really does take about a minute apiece.

Personally I wouldn't even think about automating it unless I had more than 8 or so. Otherwise setting up the automation would take longer than doing it by hand. I'm sure I could have made a simple Linux script to do it if I had sufficient reason to, but with so few extensions (that I use anyway) that haven't been updated on the developer's site I never bothered.
