...or just glanced over it and got a few choice quotes?

Decrem is saying that FF and IE actually run at the same speed. He is also saying that Spyware, ad-ware and mal-ware consume your bandwidth. Both these statements are true.

His claim is, and jibes with what I have seen after moving my users to FF, is that available bandwidth increases thus creating faster downloads thus giving the appearance that FF is much faster when it actually is about the same.

I also found the same when I installed FF on my friends home desktop and laptop. They both (man and wife) said that FF is much faster and they're glad I installed it. Decrem is stating that FF isn't much faster at all. It is only an illusion due to the increased bandwidth without the mal-ware.

I can name people who have said it was faster. THey would all be wrong but i can name them. They will all have faster downloads but not as a product of FF but a product of less mal-ware.

Besides, 15 to 20 pieces of spyware over a five year period? He must know some pretty carefull Internet users. Everytime I load Ad-Aware on any friends computer and run it, I find no less than 30 programs that are spyware and that, usually for systems less than one year old.

Speaking of the Kerry thing, the German dude did say so.

And you're right. Just because something is loaded on your computer doesn't mean its being used. Like my IE. And just because something was downloaded on one computer, it doesn't mean it's being used on one computer. Like the one copy of FF I downloaded and installed on 60+ computers.

Plus ZDNet's own data suggests that the numbers are closer to 19% (although this number may be skewed as ZDnet users are, by my educated guess, more likely to use FF over IE).
