Your cousin's wife did not deal with mass distribution channels across a nation and publicity and advertising, marketing at a national level. She probably also did not deal with song writer's and lyricists. She also did not deal with a horde of musicians. She also did not deal with a producer that made certain demands. For all intents and purposes, she is her own producer.

But, yes, the scales of economies don't quite play out here. The more you produce, the more it will cost due to the distribution costs.

Nevertheless. I do take your point. This is why studios can make money with Internet distribution. They iliminate everything your wife illiminated (except musicians, et al.).
