If it's on the net, people will find it. I've Googled myself as well, and have found just three references - one from a zdnet forum, one from a technet forum, and one about a now defunct band I was in years ago. I really don't mind these references, and they are obscure enough where you have to look up the exact phrase in order not to get 1000 references that don't pertain to me.

As for whether it's a good thing or not, I think it depends what your looking for and what turns up. If something returns that could be job related, such as websites you've designed, certain publications, or other credits, it can be helpfull. On the other hand, the content could be detrimental as well, and make people's opinions of you less than favorable if it conflicts with their own beliefs.
