"A new browser is a lot bigger change than running an app from time to time."

Totally totally disagree. All firefox is is a different version of an app they've been using and are accustomed to (IE). What's so hard about a new browser? No one says they have to bone up on all the latest whizbang extensions. Just double-click shortcut on desktop, when browser opens, click in address bar, type URL, bang away. NO learning curve involved in the least bit. However, I think you'd find many more people scratching their heads if you just asked them to start using ad aware.

"seemed to be saying the poster wasn't doing anything for people who stuck with IE, and expected to be making money off his/her inaction."

No, actually he just grew tired of trying to teach people something when they showed agin and again that they had no interest in educating themselves about computers. I too have reached this point in time. I used to try hard to get people up to speed at least in some respect. But some people (most actually) are determined to remain ignorant. So why NOT make money of these boneheads? wink

"I'll keep watching Firefox, and hope that the paid Opera overtakes it."

Why?! Oh, because one makes money and the other (dangit!) is FREE. You really hate that free concept, don't you? Let me guess: you think people are being put out of work because Firefox is being given away for nothing huh? They are contributing to the demise of IT, the bastards!

"Still, worth pointing out that sometimes the reason there are few people outside a given box is because there's no good reason to leave."

And hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. wink
But also, if you never give anything else even a taste test, how will you ever know if your reasons stand up in the IT court of law?...food to chew on...
