- New browser vs AdAware

He obviously TRIED to tell them about Firefox..
..and they DIDN'T LISTEN to that..and that's just a browser. You really think they would then take the time to learn how to install, update, and run ad aware?!
A new browser is a lot bigger change than running an app from time to time. And yes, I've answered a request for help more than once by asking if they've run AdAware lately, and then waiting while the program was updated from a few months prior.
(The problem with Spybot is this type of user would be too confused.)
On the revenue streams, Microsoft is in the business of selling software to people who already have earlier versions of their products. So, yes, they care about revenue streams.
But the post on which I was commenting seemed to be saying the poster wasn't doing anything for people who stuck with IE, and expected to be making money off his/her inaction. That's at least as conniving as Microsoft.
I'll keep watching Firefox, and hope that the paid Opera overtakes it. I decided the advantages (if any; different topic) weren't big enough to make installation of a new browser worthwhile. But no criticism of the few who do want to make the effort.
Still, worth pointing out that sometimes the reason there are few people outside a given box is because there's no good reason to leave. - Posted by: Anton Philidor Posted on: 10/21/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
