Standalone IE still exists.

Okay, for simplicity, think of IE as an interface built atop capabilities in the operating system.

Think about Maxon (myIE2) and Avant as models for what an AOL standalone could do.

Microsoft says the standalone won't disappear until Longhorn. And even then, I imagine it'll be necessary to create the appearance of a browser, if only to resolve legal issues.

I'm glad you agree about the Netscape community.
