- True but I have issues with what is being enforced
-
and what is not.
Blizzard can do whatever they like with their service. I can do whatever I like with my service.
Blizzard has the right to be paid for their games. I have the right to play the game I paid for with whom I chose to play, where I choose to play.
Blizzard has the right to pursue all who acquire their software illegally. I have the right to run a cheat-free network without interference by those wishing to protect their IP that I have not violated.
If I run a WinXP hack on a Compaq laptop and run a MSFS 2004 hack on that WinXP and then fly online accross the BellSouth DSL network with five of my buddies at virtual airports who also have the same WinXP and MSFS hacks on other Compaq laptops, can MS sue Compaq, BellSouth ATi, Broadcom, Cisco, the Internet or any other third-party involved in oour quite legal game on quite illegal software?
What if we then went online with Linux boxes and FGFS instead? Can MS sue us for not using Windows and MSFS for online gaming?
Sure I beleive in protecting IP (although I do not believe in software patents) and if your IP was stolen, charge royalty or demand recompense of some sort but do not stiffle technology nor cut off your nose to spite your face.
Blizzard went about this all wrong and probably for the wrong reasons. - Posted by: The King's Servant Posted on: 10/11/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
