I'm not so sure...
I'm not so sure. I am sure Microsoft would like to do something. But something seems to be really wrong at Microsoft. The pace of software development has slowed to an absolute crawl over there, with some of their Software Assurance customers not getting a single new edition of some of the software they signed up for. There will have been a five year gap between SQL Server editions by the time SQL 2005 is released.

I am not an insider and can't say, but from the outside it seems that Microsoft is limbering along too slowly now to respond to competitive threats these days...
