We have only ourselves to blame...

We have only ourselves to blame for this debacle. We are an ignorant society and we have let the corporations and politicians step all over us. From mainstream media to the Internet; there is so much misinformation out there it is not even funny. Bloggers spread just as much misinformation as mainstream media. The problem is we just cannot see ourselves as proprietors of garbage. We feel we are above that simply because we feel so strongly about what we have to say. However much of the time it is a waste simply because the facts are even harder to get without the proper resources. As they say garbage in, garbage out. CBS knows this very well (now).

A difference between bloggers and mainstream media is the content. Mainstream slants content so they don?t upset stockholders, advertisers and CEO?s. They spew only ?news? they consider news worthy; many times inaccurate or ?toned down?. Bloggers spew just about anything and everything (again, many times inaccurate). Many bloggers are stupid simply because they don?t know any better. Mainstream media is stupid for other reasons (they should know better); but stupid never the less.

I have nothing against bloggers. I feel it is a passing fad and will fade as people get bored. And that is my main point. We as a society need to rattle some cages and get smarter. We need to educate our children and stop being lazy. We have to get out and vote. We have to perform our civic duties. This is the only way to fix the problem. All blogging and mainstream media does is point out how ignorant we are.

You see Tom Brokaw was not entirely wrong because he knows the reason behind this stupidity. That reason are the morons watching TV today. Between news and ?reality TV?; how much farther down can a society sink? You know they call them news ?stories? for a reason. And before everyone slams me; I?m just as guilty.
