Freedom of speech?
"are you forgeting freedom of speach? this is america after all"

Actually, you are the one that's forgetting. Freedom of speech is definitely one of the rights we have in America, but it does NOT give you the freedom to commit libel and slander.

Libel (printing untruth) and slander (speaking untruth) are considered crimes.

To wit, you can't lie about someone.

Now, I'm not a lawyer, so I'm sure I'm oversimplifying the case, but these laws do exist, and they are enforceable, and quite readily used.
