Importance is not always the reason ...
Linux ...

I agree with most of what you are saying, but not all. I do not consider myself "that important", but I am required to keep my cell phone on 24/7. I am a computer network technician who works for myself. If I am not available for my clients to call, they will call the person who IS available - right or wrong, it's the nature of todays society.

However, when I do get a call I determine whether it is work or pleasure, if it is pleasure, the call is kept to a maximum 1 minute, cause within that one minute, I can make arrangements to either call or meet later (face to face is much better anyways), if it is a work related call, I make every effort to move myself into an uncrowded area, where a) I can hear the person on the other end of the phone, b) I don't feel I have to yell over the background noise of a crowd, and c) The people around me don't have to (and can't - sometimes I need to give paswords) hear my conversation.

Cell phone use is not only an evil of todays society, but a very convenient and useful one. But as I've stated in every post for this topic, all cell phone users must strive to be responsible and considerate of their cell phone use in public - hell I don't care WHAT they do in their own homes (as long as I'm not there) ...
