Accessible websites for Blind not hard
We get this question a lot...what is it that people who are blind want? We aren't to the point where websites are necessary...

People who are blind or have low vision use language software to read everything we read with our eyes and to do that they do not use a mouse. The software reads left to right just like a book.

They hit frames that contain pictures or info...they can't see it. In one sense if it is not in highly organized text with easy described links it is assumed that you want it hidden from them.

In another imagine the wall between East and West Berlin....it was meant to keep people out.

My question is...who do you want to see your site?

All people deal with money...wouldn't it be good business to increase the usability of a site to gain more profit? If it is information, is there not information that a person who is blind can use?

And there is a misconception that you have to convert the entire site over too text. Wrong. Though I have seen some really beautiful usable sites that are accessible...you can achieve the same significance if you would just put a described link to a highly organized text page....and have it open to where the page would normally open without the mouse.

If there is some significance to a graphic...write a couple sentences on it. If it is a chart...describe it in words...but in most cases you should be able to use a word doc and test it. There is loads of info on making websites accessible but we advise you start with a couple things, open your heart to an organization for the blind and ask them to help you to at least test it and make reccommendations.

If you need anymore help...I will help you find it.

Good questions...I hope this helps.
