Parental responsibilities?
It's easy to blame everyone but yourself. My kids do not watch crap because I will not let them. They are my kids and I am responsible. Blaming the studios is stupid. Or are you trying to limit my choice as an adult to watch what I like? Thats censorship and believe me you do not want to go down that road. Just ask yourself who it is that decides what is acceptable and what is not. Pretty soon some lamebrain in the whitehouse is flicking through the tv guide deciding what it is you are going to watch tonight.

As an adult I have the freedom to decide for myself and the obligation to make sure my children do not see what I see as unfit untill they are old enough to decide for themselves.

The state deciding what is and what is not fit to watch is just another step in giving away your liberties. There are other things the state can do. It can regulate. Make sure that content not fit for children isn't on untill late at night is a good starting point. Making sure childrens programs have standards would be nice as well. Most cartoons these days are as violent as the adult oriented movies. It's just packaged different.

Giving governments the power to decide for you might not be a problem if yoou like the current government. Just ask yourself what will happen if a different government takes over and decides this on a whole new set of rules. Ones you might not agree with. Never part with your liberties willingly unless you are dead sure that taking these liberties from you does not create a situation where government can abuse.
