Hard to compare...
When IE cost was also embedded into Windows while Netscape had to show its cost to the public.
Microsoft makes up the cost of developing IE "other" parts of its Internet services.
Nothing is ever free.
I AM appreciative of Microsoft dropping support for IE except the SPs in XP. This will help the migration to Mozilla and other real browsers and show others you don't have to play by Microsoft's rules.
