Let's say that Senator Hatch is in fact outraged. Are the entertainment companies going to ignore him for that reason? Are they going to advise him about the dignity of government and the need for the industry to adapt to changing circumstances?
Nope; they're going to tell him how he's saving the US, and contribute to the campaign so he can stay in office to do it.

Politicians are supported by the people who agree with them. Doesn't mean they're necessarily selling out for money. Does mean that money goes to those who will help the donor.
And sincerity is not a guarantee of being right, but self-righteousness can follow.
