Depends on if it's the room mate or the renter
Roommates.com is primarily about finding compatible roommates to SHARE rentals or ownership costs.

The owner renting a room, apartment, or building is prohibited by law from descriminating based on race, creed, color, national origin, sex, (or gender as interpreted by the courts). Which means they can't stipulate any of that as criteria on a website.

Now if you are looking for a roommate to share rental with, and you are allowed to do so by the owners; you can stipulate who you are willing to share with. If a court were do say otherwise, then they would be in the wrong.
