We can hope that the combination of iPhone, Android, and some open spectrum
will force everybody in the cellular business to act more like ISPs and open everything up like it was the internet. There is no reason for out primary wireless networks in the US to be restricted proprietary islands with hardware and applications tightly controlled. Hopefully that will be behind us very soon.
