RE: California Internet sales tax bill faces long odds
"If you walk into Wal-Mart and buy a CD, you walk out paying a tax," Calderon said.

Don't you think we are taxed enough? Let's see just some ways....

I have to get to work... sales tax on my car; city, county, state taxes on my car (city stickers/wheel tax); state and federal tax on the gas that goes in my car.

I get paid.... state and federal income taxes; medicare taxes; & some other taxes that I don't even know where they go.

I have an IRA that I contribute to AFTER taxes are taken out of my paycheck and then WHAM! more taxes on the interest I made.

I go to the grocery store... once again sales tax along with any import taxes that have occurred in transit from the foreign fruit & veggies.

So I go home to get on the net and get a song (of which only 1 on the entire album is good) get ripped off - not because the artist is making too much money, but the music industry has too many hands in the pot. And after paying all the taxes from my internet... now you want me to pay more tax from downloading a song. How ironic that this is coming from CA! Guess those lawsuits are coming back to haunt you so you have to lobby politicians to mandate another way for you to get paid.

No thanks, I'll just dump the internet and use a high grade antenna to catch some unsecured signal and download it for free.
