RE: California Internet sales tax bill faces long odds
Seems our Rethuglican governor in California doesn't mind cutting services to the people who can least afford it, i.e., the disabled, but is loath to apply the sales and use taxes to things he and his mega-rich friends enjoy.. such as their yachts. The governator can go out and buy a new million dollar yacht, keep it out of state waters for 91 days, say in Cabo San Lucas, then bring it home, and VOILA! no use taxes due on that "used" yacht. But just let Joe Working Class buy a new, or even used car, out of state, and he immediately has to fork over the sales and use tax he wold have paid had he bought it in California before he can register it... and if he doesn't register it in CA within 30 days, he gets hit with penalties.
