Not quite true...

"California, and the other 49 states, may tax all in-state transactions to their heart's content but they may not regulate or tax commerce that crosses state lines."

Actually if an online vendor had a PHYSICAL PRESENCE located in your state (ie: store, office, plant, warehouse etc), they CAN charge you your state's sales tax online.

Watch out for those who don't. Some unscrupulous vendors will claim they have to charge you sales tax, but they don't have a physical location in your state. They lie to you. It's additional fees and profits made under the guise of a tax.
