RE: Rocker Lou Reed takes aim at new technology
I think that any product that has artistical merit suffers the same fate. Unfortunately, those responsible for producing the product don't appreciate that the masses just want to show their interest in it. the masses don't feel as passionately/deeply/emotionally connected to the product, and can't possibly be as moved to want to hear that tiny nuance that connoisseurs are so vehement about. So, the connoisseurs feel frustrated that others don't feel the same way, and the masses become alienated because their interest is not valued.

I feel the same way about wine, and I'm sure that tecchies feel the same way about IT/ authors feel the same way about 'pulp' vs. classical novels and religious zealots feel about conservatives etc...

It's not a fault of the masses that this is the case, it's the fault of each side being unable to appreciate the interests of the other. That's all.
